When most people hear "surgery recovery," they think of bed rest, bland food, and daytime TV marathons. Not me. When life hit pause, I did what any true gamer would do — I mashed the start button and kept going. Gaming isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am. Even as my body demanded downtime, my spirit demanded a controller in hand and a new world to conquer.

Recovery hasn’t exactly been a speedrun. Surgery knocked me flat — pain, fatigue, the whole messy bundle. Some days it felt like my own personal Dark Souls boss fight, complete with frustration and the overwhelming urge to rage-quit. But just like any good player, I remembered: every boss has a pattern, and every tough level eventually falls.

Live streaming through recovery wasn’t easy, but it was essential. Streaming isn’t just playing games. It’s connection, community, energy. As soon as I could sit upright without feeling like I’d been hit by a freight train, I hit the "Go Live" button. Controller in one hand, grit in the other.

The games became my therapy. Open-world adventures let me escape the hospital memories. Strategy games kept my mind sharp while my body healed. Competitive shooters? They were pure catharsis — nothing beats taking down opponents after spending weeks fighting your own limitations.

Streaming across YouTube, Twitch, Kick, and Rumble gave me a real-world buff. Seeing familiar usernames pop up in chat, laughing at ridiculous glitches, celebrating wins — every moment was a reminder that I wasn’t facing this challenge alone. My community, my fellow adventurers, were right there beside me.

Was it always pretty? Hell no. Some streams were shorter because the pain crept back. Some days I logged off early because my energy bar was flashing red. But I showed up. I kept playing. I kept sharing. Every stream felt like another XP boost toward full health.

I also took this time to upgrade my gaming sanctuary. Between live streams and rest, I tweaked my setup for maximum comfort and performance. A few gear upgrades, some lighting tweaks, and boom — a battle station worthy of any comeback story. This wasn’t just about healing physically. It was about rebuilding stronger, smarter, and more unstoppable than before.

Today, I’m still in recovery — but I’m further along than I ever imagined when this started. Every session, every interaction, every ridiculous in-game moment has helped me heal. Not just my body, but my drive, my confidence, my spirit.

I’m not done. Not by a long shot. New streams, new games, and new adventures are on the horizon. Bigger battles, crazier wins, and plenty more late-night gaming marathons are waiting.

Recovery might have tried to put me on the bench. But gamers don’t quit — we respawn. And this is just the beginning of the next legendary campaign.

From pixels to purpose — always.
